The Cyber Resilience Centre for Wales (WCRC) is delighted to be working alongside the Centre for Digital Public Services (CDPS) – one of the WCRC’s Community Ambassadors – which is providing fully funded cyber security training sessions for organisations delivering devolved public services in Wales.

CDPS was set up to support the design and delivery of better public services in Wales. Together with the chief digital officers in health, Welsh Government and local government, it’s responsible for delivering the digital strategy for Wales.

CDPS has 32 sessions available until January 2024 - for organisations only - with the training suitable for up to 50 members of staff. Prior cyber or technical knowledge is not required. The course will be delivered by the WCRC’s wider cyber services team CyberPATH, with the programme aiming to help organisations gain a better understanding of their digital environment, develop further confidence to challenge something that does not look right and to know how to escalate things accordingly. Those completing the course will also receive a certificate of attendance.

Sessions are tailored to each organisation to provide the right context with each module using real-world examples. Topics include:

  • An introduction to cyber resilience
  • Why it is important
  • Different types of security vulnerabilities out there (technical/non-technical)
  • Social engineering
  • Strong passwords and their importance
  • ‘-ishings’ (spear phishing, vishing, email phishing and smishing)
  • Social media and what you put out there
  • Keeping devices up to date
  • Ransomware
  • Local-grown attacks and their impact

If your organisation is interested in the security awareness training, please get in touch with us here or by email at enquiries@wcrcentre.co.uk, quoting code 'CDPS23' to redeem your fully funded space.

If your organisation is an arm’s length body of Welsh Government and you are interested in becoming a Community Ambassador and providing a cyber service in partnership with the WCRC, please visit our membership page for more information, or contact us via either method mentioned above.
