Action Fraud, the UK's national reporting centre for fraud and cyber crime, has reported that 62% of recorded crimes between December 2020 and December 2021 were cyber enabled.

From text message scams to trading scheme fraud, the sad reality is that cyber crime is on the increase, causing significant impact to businesses and lifestyles on a daily basis.

At the NEBRC we work with all businesses across all sectors within the region to best manage the risks of fraud through recognised cyber security practice. Established as part of a national network the NEBRC is a police-led, not for profit organisation, supporting sole traders to large organisations with training, free resources and various membership packages.

The government is currently reviewing the Online Safety Bill, which recommends paid adverts by included in scope of the new legislation among a number of other proposals. We expect an update on this shortly.
