The Cyber Resilience Centre are here to support education providers based in the North West, we’ve launched a dedicated area of resources, guidance and useful links to help education providers become more cyber resilient.

  • According to the Cyber Security breaches survey of 2022; 92% of Higher Education Colleges, 88% of Further Education Colleges, 70% of Secondary Schools and 41% of Primary Schools identified breaches or cyber-attacks.
  • Three in ten Primary and Secondary schools don't have a cyber security policy in place.
  • Just 81% of Higher Education Institutions and 74% of Further Education Colleges have a formal incident response plan in place.

We can help further your knowledge and strengthen your team’s resilience against cyberattacks. We want to work closely alongside you to ensure we fully understand your needs and can tailor our services to not only fit in with the demands of a busy daily schedule but also fit within your budget.

93% of colleges experienced a phishing attack in the last 12 months.

Many schools and colleges wrongly assume that they do not need cybersecurity help because they outsource their IT support. When in reality, here at the Cyber Resilience Centre we can work alongside your managed IT provider to ensure your staff are aware of the latest threats and receive the necessary security awareness training.

A survey by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in 2022 found that 70% of secondary schools identified that they had breaches or attacks in the last 12 months.

The same DCMS report showed that 23% of those secondary schools that had suffered attacks said they had to deal with them every week. The most common type of cyber attack against education providers is phishing emails.

Your staff should be aware of the latest phishing emails and text scams and the warning signs if they’re contacted by scammers attempting to impersonate your organisation to gain access to your network or extract sensitive information that could put your staff, pupils or suppliers at further risk. Remember, your data should be backed up regularly and any vulnerabilities in your network need to be found and secured.
