Swindon security business SSGC has joined a group of companies able to bid for government contracts worth around £1bn per year.
SSGC has been named as a supplier on Crown Commercial Service’s (CCS) Security Services – Physical, Technical and Support Services framework, making it one of a handful of suppliers to gain framework approval.
It can now compete for security work with central government departments.
SSGC says it has developed technology solutions to help solve known issues in the industry, such as recruitment, where its software engages with candidates via a guided application solution.
As a result, the company now manages more than 20,000 live job applications.
SSGC’s focus on the veteran community led to it being recognised with a Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold award for its work for the government during the Covid-19 crisis.
SSGC CEO David Stubbs said: “It’s been part of SSGC’s strategy to become a direct to government supplier for 2022 and to say I’m delighted is a bit of an understatement.
“The rigorous selection process was challenging and it’s testament to the dedication of the whole SSGC management team that this milestone has been achieved.

“I believe this is the first security-specific government framework, as security has sat within facilities management as a general soft service in recent years. We are proud to be one of the very first security companies to offer the government a specialist security service and are certain that our development of technology will deliver an improved security service.
“Our commitment to social value is well-documented – it’s the absolute bedrock of our culture and has put us in the position to be able to compete for these types of contracts against the giants of our industry.
“This approval gives us the opportunity to compete, but we relish the challenge and will continue to disrupt the industry with our unique blend of technology and social value. The work starts here.”
CCS supports the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services. In 2021-22, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits equal to £2.8bn – supporting world-class public services that offer best value for taxpayers.
SSGC placed 10th in the Infologue 2021 Top 45 UK Security Companies, an annual list which ranks the UK’s biggest and best security companies by revenue generated.
