Metropolitan Police Service deputy assistant commissioner Jane Connors QPM has been appointed to the role of Deputy Chief Constable at Police Scotland.
The Durham University microbiology graduate was offered the role after a recruitment process lasting nearly two months.
The role came up after Will Kerr moved to Devon and Cornwall’s top job.
Chief Constable Sir Iain Livingstone QPM said: “Jane is an outstanding police leader who will add further experience and skills to our senior team.
“I am grateful to all the high-quality candidates who stepped forward for what has been a demanding and competitive process.”
