The founder of the FTX crypto exchange has denied charges of stealing billions of dollars of his customers’ money.
Sam Bankman-Fried, 30, pleaded not guilty before US district judge Lewis Kaplan at a court in Manhattan on January 3.
He spent Christmas on bail and under house arrest at his parents’ home in California.
The charges came after his empire crashed in November.
It is is thought 80,000 0f FTX’s clients were Britons.
He has been charged by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) with fraud and violating campaign finance laws. If Bankman-Fried is convicted of all charges, he could face 115 years behind bars.
