We were all delighted to hear the UK Home Secretary, Priti Patel, highlighting the National Cyber Resilience Centre network in her speech at the Cyber Security Centre’s CYBERUK conference on cyber security on 11th May. CYBERUK is the government’s flagship cyber event, with this year’s conference taking place as a virtual two-day event via YouTube.

The conference hosted a selection of speakers, including Jeremy Fleming, Director at GCHQ; Sudhakar Ramakrishna, CEO of SolarWinds; Lindy Cameron, CEO at NCSC; John Lambert - Distinguished Engineer at Microsoft Threat Intelligence Centre; and UK Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab. There were also panel discussions at the event on topics including emerging cyber trends, protecting consumer accounts, and protecting the NHS from COVID-19 related ransomware attacks.

In her speech at the event, the Home Secretary outlined the government’s approach to cybercrime and what they hoped to achieve in the future, where she name-checked the network of Cyber Resilience Centres as one of the key systems set up to support policing and businesses in this increasingly important area.

For the CRC network to be recognised by a Cabinet Minister at such a pivotal time for cyber and at such a high-profile event, is a testament to the hard work of all parties involved in its establishment.

“It is a huge credit to the sheer commitment shown by Policing across England and Wales that we have seen this programme deliver nine Centres, with all of these now live. We are also indebted to the many stakeholders, partners, supporters and Universities who, every day, will us on to do even more to protect the wider business community. The success of what we are all achieving jointly is down to the joint vision and ambition of all the partners in this.“ – Mandy Haeburn-Little, CEO BRIM
