International Women’s Day (IWD) is being marked by the security industry with a special event at the Tate Modern in London later today.
The event starts at 2pm with opening speeches from Dr David Rubens (Executive Director of Institute of Strategic Risk Management) and Satia Rai (Chief Executive of the International Professional Security Association).
Among the keynote speakers will be Figen Murray, the driving force behind Martyn’s Law, or Protect Duty, which aims to promote better security at public venues.

Other speakers will be: Michelle Russell (SIA), Julie Mason (Mitie) and Sarah Hayes (Securitas UK).
Rai said: “IWD is a truly inclusive, diverse and eclectic moment of impact worldwide. Together we can celebrate and forge positive change for women across our industry and worldwide.”
The IWD website says: “We can all truly embrace equity.
It’s not just something we say. It’s not just something we write about.
“It’s something we need to think about, know, value and embrace. It’s what we believe in, unconditionally. Equity means creating an inclusive world.”

The theme is #EmbraceEquity
