A man has been arrested after a car crashed into the gates outside Downing Street, the Metropolitan Police said.
The Met said he had been arrested after 4pm on suspicion of criminal damage and dangerous driving.
There were no reports of any injuries and inquiries are ongoing, the police said.
It is not thought the incident was terror related.
CCTV footage appeared to shoe the silver Kia car crossing Whitehall near the Cenotaph and coming to a halt at the gates of Downing Street.
Prime Minister was in 10 Downing Street at the time of the incident.
Eye-witnesses reported seeing armed officers pointing Tasers at the occupant.
