Mul-T-Lock UK, part of the ASSA ABLOY group, has announced the appointment of Nigel Taylor as the new Director & Head of Locksmiths UKI – Commercial Group.

With extensive experience in the industry, in his first interview in his role, Taylor spoke exclusively to SJUK about his core values, ambitions and goals for Mul-T-Lock and the wider ASSA ABLOY Commercial Group.

“I am thrilled to take on this new challenge at Mul-T-Lock UKI,” said Taylor.

“With a background in locks and architectural ironmongery and 17 years of experience in the locksmith trade, I was drawn to a company that aligns so closely with what I know and am passionate about.

“It’s really like coming home and I can’t wait to reach out to my existing contacts and make new ones!”

What core values will you bring to the role?

“I am committed to upholding and fostering the core values of honesty, integrity and empathy.

“I believe in allowing people to have the autonomy to do their jobs effectively, trusting in their expertise and skills.

“This approach not only empowers our team members but also encourages innovation and growth.

“Something that can only be positive for our customers.

“Honesty and integrity are fundamental in everything we do, ensuring we continue to build trust within our team and with our clients.

“I strive to maintain an open and honest dialogue within the team, creating a supportive and transparent work environment.

“I value the importance of empathy, and understanding the needs and perspectives of both our employees and customers.

“By embracing these values, we can create a positive and productive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected.

“I am excited to bring these principles to my role and look forward to contributing to the continued success of Mul-T-Lock and ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions in the UK and Ireland.”

What about Mul-T-Lock attracted you to the company?

“Mul-T-Lock’s commitment to the locksmith and security trade and the evolution of mechanical and electromechanical solutions deeply resonated with me.

“I am looking forward to reconnecting with contacts in the industry and making new connections.

“What really attracted me though is the scope of this role. With the backing of ASSA ABLOY’s extensive portfolio, we are well-positioned to continue to deliver comprehensive solutions and service excellence to our customers.

“We know our customers have asked for this, and we listened.

“To have one point of contact to deliver complete security solutions makes complete sense, and it’s hugely exciting in its potential to deliver.

Can you explain the long-term goals for the company?

“Our long-term goals for Mul-T-Lock focus on several key areas to drive sustained growth and innovation.

First and foremost, we aim to grow the Mul-T-Lock brand.

“Last year, we celebrated 50 years in the UKI, and our number one goal is to ensure Mul-T-Lock remains synonymous with quality and high security in the locksmith and architectural ironmongery industries.

“Building on the solid foundation we will continue to nurture and expand our relationships with our factories, ensuring seamless collaboration and efficiency in our operations.

“A significant focus will be on the introduction of new products.

“We remain committed to continuous innovation, bringing advanced security solutions to market that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

“This must be complemented by effective customer service. Ensuring our customers can easily order and receive products.

“This is especially for our mobile customers who depend on fast delivery.

“The channel strategy will take time to align across the impressive ASSA ABLOY brands that security specialists can now access.

“By doing so, we aim to provide a comprehensive and unified service experience that enhances customer satisfaction and supports the long-term success of our partners.

“Our emphasis will remain steadfast on strengthening the Mul-T-Lock brand, improving operational efficiencies and fostering innovation through new product introductions and advanced digital solutions.

“These goals will help us maintain our position as a leader in the security industry and ensure long-term success.”

Strengthening Mul-T-Lock’s position

Eryl Jones, Vice President & Head of Commercial ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions UK & Ireland added: “This appointment marks a significant and exciting milestone for Mul-T-Lock and ASSA ABLOY.

“Nigel’s deep-rooted industry knowledge and proven leadership will undoubtedly strengthen our position in the market.

“His expertise will be instrumental in driving our strategic initiatives forward, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional value and innovation to our locksmith customers across the UK and Ireland.”
