Samehra Malik, Senior Channel Marketing Manager at Seagate Technology, discusses how her role helps the company meet the needs of customers.

Tell me a bit about you and your background?  

My name is Samehra Malik, a dedicated Marketing professional with a robust background in the technology sector (ex-NVIDIA, Ex-Microsoft), currently serving at Seagate Technology.  

Over the years, I’ve amassed extensive experience in product marketing and strategic planning, which has been instrumental in my journey at Seagate.

My educational background includes a degree in Media, and I have cultivated an interest in emerging technologies, particularly in data storage solutions. 

What are your day-to-day duties in your role?  

At Seagate, my day-to-day responsibilities revolve around channel marketing with a particular focus on our Security and Surveillance segment as well as leading on regional technology partnerships.  

I collaborate closely with various teams to ensure our channel strategy is implemented and plans executed well.

This involves monitoring market trends, overseeing MDF planning, and ensuring that our plans align with customer needs and business objectives.   

How does Seagate’s approach stand out in your field?  

Seagate’s approach in the data storage field stands out due to our relentless pursuit of innovation and reliability.

An example of this is our Mozaic3+ technology (built on HAMR (Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording), which sets us apart from competitors.

This cutting-edge technology allows us to deliver reliability and capacity, addressing the data needs of our customers.  

Unlike traditional methods, HAMR technology leverages heat to record data, enhancing storage density and reliability.

This ensures that our hard drives can store more data without compromising on performance. 

Seagate’s commitment to debunking myths and educating our audience about the realities of hard drives and SSDs is noteworthy.

One of the common misconceptions we tackle is the idea that SSDs are always superior to hard drives.

While SSDs offer speed, hard drives still provide unmatched capacity and cost-effectiveness for large-scale data storage.  

What are your goals in the UK market in the future?  

Looking ahead, our goals in the market are ambitious yet grounded in our core strengths.

We aim to expand our market presence by continuing to introduce solutions that address the unique challenges faced by businesses and consumers.  

This involves not only leveraging our existing technologies, but also exploring new frontiers in data storage to stay ahead of the curve.  

Moreover, we are focused on enhancing our customer engagement and support systems to build stronger relationships and trust.  

A significant part of the Seagate vision is also about fostering innovation and ensuring that our products are not just competitive, but also pioneering in the data storage market.  

As we look to the future, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in the UK market and am dedicated to driving Seagate’s vision of delivering unparalleled data storage solutions.
