Manufacturer of premium entry solutions, Boon Edam, has announced the completion of multiple retrofit projects on the Canary Wharf Estate.
According to the company, these projects, undertaken in collaboration with Canary Wharf Group, mark a step towards enhancing security, accessibility and sustainability through the modernisation of legacy revolving doors.
From One Canada Square and 20 Bank Street to 1 Churchill Place and more, these upgrades included the installation of advanced security features such as lockdown capabilities and EN16005 upgrades for compliance with the latest safety standards, ensuring a safe and secure environment for tenants and visitors.
“We are proud to collaborate with Canary Wharf Group in setting a benchmark for urban retrofitting,” said Kelly Richardson, National Service Sales Manager at Boon Edam.
“Our retrofit solutions not only enhance the security and efficiency of these iconic buildings but also support broader sustainability goals by reducing the need for new materials and construction.”
By adopting a retrofit-first approach, Boon Edam and Canary Wharf Group are leading the way in sustainable urban development, reducing the environmental impact associated with replacing entire entrance systems, the company reports.
This approach aligns with the increasing demand for more circular processes in the built environment, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable urban landscape.
“The demand for retrofitting is growing as businesses recognise the benefits of upgrading their entrance systems without the need for complete replacements,” added Richardson.
“Whether a customer is retrofitting buildings to improve energy efficiency, increase security or make the space more accessible, there are so many options available to them.
“Our collective efforts with the Group demonstrate our ability to handle large-scale, complex retrofit projects.
“I’m proud that we continue to deliver innovative and future-proof entrance solutions that meet the evolving needs of the modern workplace.”
