Gunnebo Entrance Control has enhanced the security and efficiency of managing people flow in the university’s retail areas, with the installation of advanced retail gates.

The University of Kent recognised the need to improve access control in its retail zones and chose Gunnebo Entrance Control for its expertise and innovative solutions, the company says.

The installation included one powered retail gate, one manual gate and associated barrier work, providing a comprehensive solution to manage entry and exit points effectively.

A positive experience

“Working with Gunnebo Entrance Control has been a positive experience,” said Suzanne Lloyd, Retail Group Manager at Kent University.

“The installation was done really quickly with little disruption to staff or customers.”

The process began with a thorough site inspection and assessment to tailor the installation due to underfloor heating being present within the area.

In line with health and safety requirements, the gates were then securely mounted on plinths, with barriers installed to guide foot traffic.

“Gunnebo’s commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable security solutions was evident throughout the project,” added Chris James, Product Manager at Gunnebo Entrance Control.

“Our ability to listen and customise installations, including integration with fire safety, to meet client needs while ensuring compliance with safety standards underscores our position as a trusted security partner.”
