Dr Fariborz Baghaei Naeini, Chief Data Scientist and AI Product Manager at Ipsotek, speaks exclusively with SJUK.

How long have you been with Ipsotek and what’s your journey been like as a Chief Data Scientist?

I joined Ipsotek in 2018 while pursuing my PhD in Artificial Intelligence and the journey since then has been both dynamic and rewarding.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with leading universities worldwide, contributing to cutting-edge research in computer vision and its diverse applications.

At Ipsotek, my work has primarily focused on driving innovation within our R&D team.

Together, we’ve developed advanced AI models, built robust infrastructures and pioneered solutions that form the backbone of our video analytics offerings.

A core part of my role has been shaping the AI-driven aspects of our products to ensure they deliver tangible value in real-world applications.

Can you tell me about Ipsotek and what makes the company a global leader in AI?

For over 25 years, Ipsotek has successfully delivered more than 800 projects worldwide, spanning 17 diverse sectors, including airports, transportation and government.

This breadth of experience has provided us with unparalleled domain expertise and an in-depth understanding of the real-world challenges faced by our clients across industries.

A core differentiator for Ipsotek is our ability to create robust, bespoke AI models designed to perform reliably at scale across the globe.

Our patented scenario-based engine further enhances this by seamlessly integrating AI models with advanced algorithms, enabling the system to handle even the most complex operational requirements with precision.

Innovation is at the heart of what we do.

Our dedicated research and development teams continuously adopt the latest advancements in AI to refine our technology.

This ensures our solutions not only keep pace with evolving demands but consistently deliver measurable value to our clients.

What challenges in the security industry does Ipsotek’s product offerings help to overcome?

The security industry faces several challenges, including ensuring public safety, optimising operational workflows and responding effectively to dynamic situations—all while maintaining scalability to adapt to diverse environments.

Ipsotek addresses these challenges through a comprehensive portfolio of AI-driven solutions designed to deliver measurable impact across industries.

Our products excel at enhancing situational awareness by leveraging advanced analytics to identify critical scenarios in real-time, enabling swift and informed decision-making.

This capability empowers organisations to proactively address potential risks and maintain a secure environment.

Operational efficiency is another area where Ipsotek stands out. By automating repetitive tasks and streamlining workflows, our solutions help reduce the burden on human resources, allowing teams to focus on higher-value activities.

This includes optimising the allocation of resources and minimising operational disruptions, even in highly dynamic and complex environments.

Moreover, Ipsotek’s solutions are designed with scalability at their core.

Whether deployed in a single facility or across a global network, our technology is engineered to deliver consistent performance and adaptability, meeting the needs of small-scale operations as well as large, multi-site infrastructures.

The company recently launched VISense, which is set to redefine real-time video analytics. What are the platform’s main features?

VISense transforms real-time video analytics by introducing a revolutionary approach to visual data interpretation.

Leveraging the latest advancements in Vision-Language Models (VLMs) and Large Language Models (LLMs), the platform converts raw visual inputs into rich, descriptive metadata.

This marks a significant evolution in computer vision, enabling VISense to generate detailed, unstructured metadata that includes contextual insights from images or videos.

Previously, Ipsotek introduced the Natural Language Detector (NLD), allowing users to identify objects described in plain language.

VISense builds on this by autonomously producing comprehensive scene descriptions without prior user input.

These detailed descriptions can later be queried, empowering users to easily search for specific scenarios or events within the visual data.

What benefits does VISense provide users in different industries?

VISense delivers transformative benefits across a range of industries by offering advanced analytics without requiring extensive training for the AI models.

In today’s dynamic environment, challenges and requirements evolve rapidly, and VISense enables users to adapt instantly to new scenarios without the need for complex system reconfiguration.

Additionally, the platform is designed for efficient scalability, making it suitable for deployments ranging from localised setups to enterprise-level infrastructures.

When integrated with Ipsotek’s patented scenario-based engine, VISense minimises false alarms and extracts actionable insights from visual data, empowering organisations to make informed decisions while optimising operational efficiency.

How does VISense differ from Ipsotek’s other services/product offerings?

VISense introduces a groundbreaking new dimension to Ipsotek’s offerings by incorporating unstructured metadata into its analytics framework.

Unlike traditional visual AI models that focus on specific modalities, VISense integrates contextual insights with existing visual rules to unlock entirely new use cases.

This multidimensional approach enables the system to interpret and act on complex scenarios that were previously beyond the capabilities of single-modality AI solutions.

VISense is just one milestone in Ipsotek’s roadmap for generative AI, can you provide our readers with any insights into the company’s plans for 2025?

In 2025, Ipsotek will continue its commitment to innovation by enhancing VISense’s customisation capabilities, particularly in alarm configurations and AI-driven agents.

These advancements aim to provide users with greater flexibility, enabling the system to reason and adapt dynamically to evolving requirements.

By integrating intelligent reasoning with the existing framework, Ipsotek plans to further elevate the performance, scalability and operational value of its solutions, ensuring they remain at the forefront of AI-driven analytics.
