Delkia has built a new engineering production facility set to open in May 2025, generating around 20 new jobs in Haydock, St Helens, expanding its operations into Merseyside.
The company plans to onboard employees ranging from production engineers, workshop technicians, project managers and business administrators.
The engineering and technology company, which specialises in safety-related and mission-critical systems for the defence and nuclear sectors, is expanding its production capabilities significantly to keep pace with its growing order book.
The new ‘Power and Propulsion Centre of Excellence’ at Haydock is 16,000 sq ft and will specialise in large-scale production, testing and assembly of power and propulsion systems for the defence sector.
The facility will have the capability to manage complex projects for the maritime and nuclear sectors and will significantly increase Delkia’s ability to produce, store and work across varied projects according to the company.
Located on a modern industrial site less than a mile from the M6, the manufacturing centre also includes several offices and meeting spaces for Delkia’s team, providing the facilities required as the company continues to expand.
Steve Postlethwaite, Programme Director at Delkia, is overseeing the logistics of setting up the new site.
The Programme Director has benefited from 3D scans of the building, which have allowed for virtual walkthroughs and detailed floorplans of the proposed layout of the new manufacturing facility to be drafted and shared with stakeholders.
Postlethwaite said: “This strategic move marks a significant milestone in Delkia’s growth and reinforces our commitment to expanding our production capacity and meeting the increasing demand for our products.
“This expansion will not only strengthen our position in the marketplace but also create new opportunities for innovation and new jobs in the communities where we operate.
“It is an exciting time for us to continue to build a strong future and drive success together,” finalised Postlewaite.
