Lawrence Peters, OPTEX Head of Sales – UK and Ireland provides insight into the benefits of the company’s sensing technologies.

Can you tell me about your role at OPTEX?

I’ve worked within the security industry for 18 years now across a broad range of areas.

Joining OPTEX last year as Head of Sales for the UK and Ireland was a no brainer in truth, because of the company’s strong reputation for quality and continuous development of innovative solutions that protect people, property and assets across the world.

My primary responsibility is leading and implementing our domestic sales and growth strategy with a particular focus on new customer acquisition across our key vertical markets.

Equally important is maintaining and further enhancing our long-term partnerships with installers, system integrators and distributors across the UK and Ireland, ensuring we continue to deliver the highest level of customer support.

How do you help customers choose the right product?

Fundamentally, it’s all about understanding customers’ security and operational needs.

Every customer and site are different, with their own specific requirements, so there is no one-size-fits-all solution.

What might be the perfect solution for one site may not be suitable for another.

They each require the level of security appropriate to and commensurate with the risk.

At OPTEX, our focus is always on uncovering the fundamental issues underlying a problem to develop long-term, intelligent and user-friendly solutions across various sectors and environments. 

This approach has led us to developing a wide portfolio of leading sensing and intrusion detection technologies – from our pioneering LiDAR technology to our fibre optic range, vehicle detection and much more – that can be combined and integrated to create a comprehensive, multi-layered security system.

What do you see as the key strengths of OPTEX’s sensing technologies?

OPTEX’s leading intrusion detection solutions enable a proactive security system that provides highly accurate and reliable detection.

Our intelligent technologies have been specifically designed to ‘detect’ and are not affected by light – in fact our sensors can reliably detect within complete darkness, variable temperatures or external factors such as wind, rain or snow.

With the ability to seamlessly integrate sensors with CCTV and surveillance systems, security operators and control rooms can see the true picture in real time and coordinate the appropriate response.

Our leading technologies and intelligent detection algorithms are setting new standards in the security industry and are respected globally, with applications deployed at some of the world’s most critical security sites, including data centres, underground rail and national infrastructure to high-end retail and logistics sites.

What is OPTEX highlighting at ISE 2025?

In addition to our leading portfolio of advanced intrusion detection solutions which includes our award-winning REDSCAN LiDAR range, we will also be previewing two new products at ISE, which will be launched later this year, including the latest addition to our fibre optic range.
