The Pope dismisses that service as well, and Newcastle struggles to launch a counterattack.

Arsenal will face Olympiacos on Wednesday, just a few hours after Newcastle’s match against Union Saint-Gilloise. Both teams are experiencing limited depth due to injuries but appear set to field their full strength for this game.
Following his extended absence due to injury, Bukayo Saka played against Port Vale and lasted for an hour. Will Arteta include him again before the UCL match? Is Martin Odegaard’s shoulder fit for action?
Eddie Howe likely took advantage of the Bournemouth match and their League Cup game against Port Vale to give his top midfielders some rest. He’s likely planning to deploy Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, and Joelinton in both matches. What’s his plan in the forward line? Nick Pope is almost certainly going to start, but Harvey Barnes, Anthony Gordon, Jacob Murphy, and Anthony Elanga are expected to share playing time over the next two games.
OUT: Jacob Ramsey (foot), Yoane Wissa (knee), Fabian Schar (concussion)
OUT: Piero Hincapie (groin), Noni Madueke (knee), Kai Havertz (knee –MORE), Gabriel Jesus (knee) | QUESTIONABLE: Martin Odegaard (shoulder –MORE)
Arsenal (second place – 10 points) managed to secure a last-minute draw against Manchester City last weekend but still dropped two points further behind as the Reds continued their flawless start with a victory over Everton. Over five matches, the Gunners have earned all nine points from three games against teams currently in the lower half of the standings and only one point out of a possible six against their top title contenders, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Luckily for Mikel Arteta’s team, Newcastle (13th – 6 points) have only secured one victory and scored three goals this season. Eddie Howe and his squad are evidently still getting used to life without Alexander Isak, and may be starting to understand how many weaknesses the outstanding Swede covered up with his 21- and 23-goal campaigns. The Magpies have only surpassed the 1.0 xG threshold in two of their five matches and recorded a dismal 0.14 in a goalless draw against Bournemouth last weekend (0.46 for the Cherries).
If Arsenal aim to launch an offensive and control the match against Newcastle, they are likely to secure an easy victory, but this hinges on whether Arteta considers it a “significant game.” Newcastle 0-1 Arsenal.
