Fortinet has announced that it has joined the UK Government’s Software Security Ambassadors Scheme.
This builds on Fortinet’s commitment to advancing secure-by-design practices.
Led by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the scheme brings together organisations from across industry to champion the UK’s Software Security Code of Practice and support its wider adoption.
The Software Security Code of Practice sets out fourteen principles designed to make security a core part of how products are designed, built and maintained.
As a Software Security Ambassador, Fortinet is committed to supporting these principles, sharing practical lessons from its experience in secure product development and responsible vulnerability disclosure to support wider adoption of secure-by-design and help inform future policy improvements.
Dr Carl Windsor, CISO at Fortinet commented: “Building more resilient digital infrastructure starts with making security fundamental to how software is designed and developed.
“The Software Security Ambassadors Scheme creates an important opportunity for government and industry to work together to raise the bar for software security across the UK.
“Fortinet looks forward to sharing the lessons we have learned from securing our own products with the government to help turn strong security principles into practices that organisations can put into action,” he concluded.
Fortinet explained that its participation builds on its continued engagement in the UK and commitment to strengthen the country’s cyber-resilience.
With new offices in London, Manchester and Glasgow, Fortinet is expanding its UK presence and investing in the people, partnerships and expertise needed to better support customers and partners, while playing an active role in the country’s growing cybersecurity ecosystem.
