Baroness Ruth Henig, former chair of SIA, passes away

Former Chair of the SIA, Baroness Ruth Henig, passed away on 29 February 2024, aged 80.

A statement from the SIA says that its staff are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Lady Henig, who was SIA Chair from January 2007 to January 2013.

Admired by colleagues at SIA

According to the SIA, Lady Henig was much admired by colleagues and played a key role in driving the organization’s focus on greater public protection and better regulation.

She was praised by the industry for her tireless efforts to build trust and confidence between the regulator and those operating within the private security sector.

Following her departure from the SIA, Lady Henig remained actively involved in the security industry.

In 2023, she received the special recognition award from the Women in Security Awards for her contribution to the security industry.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with her family at this difficult time,” the SIA statement reads.
